Giving Teenagers a head start

It has always been notoriously difficult for teenagers leaving school at 16 to find suitable employment and many kids will often find themselves taking unskilled jobs with limited long-term prospects just to get into work and start earning money. But there are some people that are looking to give some youths a helping hand in gaining some valuable life and commercial skills that they can take into the work place.

Marmalade Jams is a charitable organisation set up by Aaron Emmett to give small groups of teenagers the opportunity to work with mentors to organise a music event. During the process the kids will learn skills in project management, marketing, advertising, sales and team work. The hope is that these skills can then be transferred into the work place and help young people find work.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is an amazing experience and definitely to be recommended. Kilimanjaro is one of the fabled 7 summits – the seven highest mountains in the seven continents on earth. Out of the 7 Kilimanjaro is one of the most accessible to individuals and it is possible to reach the summit without any specialist mountain climbing experience, or technical equipment. There are 6 official routes on Kilimanjaro that you can choose to follow; the length of trek is usually between 5-8 days, although the longer the trek the better you will acclimatise.
