High Altitude trekking is generally considered to be any climbing or walking to an altitude of eight thousand feet or higher. There are many mountains all over the world that fall into this category, but some of the most famous are in the 7 summits of the world. These are the highest peaks in the seven continents; Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, The Artic and Antarctica. Out of these mountains the best known are Mount Everest and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. There are various routes you can choose from to trek to the summit but the most popular of these is the Machame Route, which is a 6-7 day trek starting on the southern side of the mountain.
